When a brand in Istanbul wants product photography or a video shoot, its first two questions are always the same: how does the process work, and how much will it cost? There is no single answer to the second, because a shoot's budget is shaped by a few concrete factors such as the amount of content, the location, the crew and the editing involved. In this article we walk through both the process and those factors.

First, the process. A good shoot starts before the camera is switched on. In the brief we clarify what the brand needs: product photos on a white background for an e-commerce site, Reels for Instagram, or a promo film for the website? Each needs different lighting, framing and editing. That clarity speeds up the shoot day and makes sure the budget goes to the right place.

Next comes a shot list: which products, from which angles, in which formats; whether videos are vertical or horizontal; which lines appear on screen. The shoot day follows this list. In a city like Istanbul, where traffic and changing locations cost time, this planning can decide whether a shoot takes one day or two.

The first factor in the budget is the amount of content. Catalogue photos of twenty products and detailed product videos of three don't take the same effort. How many products, and how many frames or videos per product, directly set the length of the shoot. That's why the first thing we ask when quoting is how much content you need.

The second factor is location. A studio shoot is the most efficient way to control light and background. Shoots at the brand's own shop, office or outdoors give a more natural result but need extra time for travel, setup and lighting. If there are several locations on different sides of Istanbul, it's worth planning from the start whether they fit into one day or need to be split.

The third factor is crew and equipment. A single-camera social media shoot and a two-camera interview or podcast need different crews. Wireless microphones, extra lights, a gimbal or a drone are added as needed. The right equipment solves on set the problems that would otherwise take hours to fix in the edit.

The fourth, often overlooked factor is editing. The shoot is half the job; the real content takes shape in the edit. Colour grading, subtitles, music and exporting different formats for different platforms define the scope of the edit. How many different videos come out of one shoot makes up a significant part of the total budget.

The last factor is delivery time and revisions. Urgent work that has to make a launch needs more resources than work that follows a planned calendar. Agreeing on the number of revisions and delivery formats up front protects both your time and the crew's.

In short, the answer to “how much does a shoot cost?” is the answer to “how much content, where, with which crew and how much editing?” Answering these questions up front prevents surprise costs and makes sure your budget goes to the content that will bring the best results.

At Apex Kreatif we shoot product photography, promo videos, Reels and podcasts all over Istanbul, and handle the shoot, the edit and delivery for every platform in one place. Send us your brief; we'll clarify your needs together and prepare your tailored quote the same day.
