Many businesses that decide to get a website face the same question first: is a corporate brochure site enough, or do we need an e-commerce site where we can sell our products directly? The answer lies in how the business actually sells.
A corporate website presents your brand, your services and your contact details, and leads visitors to get in touch. An e-commerce site is a sales channel where products are listed, added to a basket and paid for on the site itself. Both are shop windows, but one brings the customer to you while the other makes the sale itself.

If you sell services, working through quotes, appointments or meetings, like an agency, clinic, consultancy, architecture firm or manufacturer, a well-planned corporate site is usually enough. What matters here is describing your services clearly, showing examples of your work and making it easy for visitors to request a quote.
If you sell products at standard prices and want customers to see a product and buy it right away, an e-commerce site is the right choice. Product pages, payments, shipping and stock management form its foundation. For brands selling on marketplaces, their own e-commerce site also means commission-free sales and a direct relationship with customers.
Some businesses sit in between. For a brand that offers services and also sells a few products, adding a small shop section to a corporate site can be a good start. So the decision isn't always one or the other; a structure that can grow with your needs is also possible.
When deciding, ask yourself: do my customers need to talk to me before buying? Are my prices fixed, or do they change for each customer? Do I have a setup to manage orders, payments and shipping? The answers largely show which kind of site will earn you more.
One more thing to keep in mind: whichever you choose, the site needs to load fast, work smoothly on mobile and be findable in search engines. Even the best-designed site is no use if nobody can find it.
